Hungary must abstain from hurried steps, mainly from sending troops to the area. Hungary must develop efforts to attenuate the military tension for peace, and government has to announce publicly its readness to do so â013 is told in a press release of the organizer for the Hungarian Social Forum-Social Roundtable edited on Thursday in Budapest. It is inadmissible to use countries and peoples as tools of aggression, like it has occured with Georgia against South-Ossetia and silently tollerate that the situation degenerate into a confrontation between two superpowers with the consequences to our country â013 communique tells. National interest of Hungary in military and economical sense is Peace and political solution of the conflict. </div><div> </div><div style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt">Western powers have to take note of the fact, that american backed Sakashvilliâ019s military step to oblige South Ossetia to the territorial integration into Georgia has failed. Russia must respect the draft of peace it has signed. South Ossetia has the right to decide freely between self-determination or integration into an other state. There are not only western interests, there exist also russian interests. The projected anti-ballistic missile system in Poland, Czekia and Hungary (radar), the inclusion into the NATO of the baltic states, the project to do the same with Georgia cannot be considered as steps toward the strenghtening of the self-determination of the peoples. Human rights and democracy in Russia, in China and in other eastern countries cannot be assured by missiles and by denying their national interests, but only by peaceful co-operation and total respect of the sovreignty of those peoples.</div><div style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt"> </div><div style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt">At the opinion of the HSF-SR organizer the unilateral alignment of Hungary is carrying dangers to the national interests considering the well known geopolitical situation of the central european country. The conflict in South Ossetia is showing that a new collective european security system is needed with the inclusion of Russia and of the former soviet republics. Hungary is interested in a secure Europe, not becoming a zone of confrontation between East and West. A new collective security system in Europe can help the melting of the conflicts between East and West as well as the suppression of the reciprocal feeelings of menace â013 ES says.</div><div style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt">HSF-SR organizer has invited the minister of foreign affairs of Hungary to receive a delegation of the HSF in order to give voice to the civic society on such a fundamental question like as peace and security of the area and the country. Communique has remembered that in a meeting with prime minister Peter Medgyessy in 2002 HSF delegation could not convince him to abstain by sending hungarian military troops to Iraq.
