Call for action
during the Global Forum on Migration and Development, 
Athens 2nd-5th of
November

and

international
preparation meeting for the mobilization and the parallel international meeting, 
Athens, Saturday
19th of September

 

We, migrant' and anti-racist organizations,
trade unions and left wing groups, who are involved in the movement against
racism in Greece for the last 20 years say no to the intergovernmental Global
Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) which will be held in Athens at 2nd-5th of
November (2nd-3rd/11th Civil Society Days, 4th-5th/11th
intergovernmental meeting).

·       
We struggle against the war against migration

·       
We emphasize that the western countries are
responsible for the extreme poverty and the "humanitarian" wars, that
they use the human rights as a pretense for their violation.

·       
The governments speak about migrants as numbers
and not human beings whose life and rights are violated. Migration
management and development are only for the profits of the migrants’ receiving
countries enterprises and the use of migrant remittances from the sending
countries governments. 

·       
At the same time migration management is used
for further militarization and externalization of migration policies, for
strengthening the deadly border policies of the Western and Northern countries..


·       
The greek government spends millions of euros for
the GFMD while it refuses to thousands of refugees the basic access to medical
treatment and housing. It is responsible for the increase of racism, the police
brutality, the violation of asylum rights and the implementing of mass
detention and deportation policies.


Migrant
and anti-racist organizations who formed the campaign “0% Racism, 100%
Solidarity” call for an international mobilization against the Global Forum on
Migration and Development (2-5 of November 2009)


The
proposed action program is

2-3-4
of November: international meeting of anti-racist movements

Wednesday
4th of November: international demonstration in Athens to the GFMD  

Thursday 5th of November: protest
against the new concentration camps for migrants


We call for a preparation meeting for the
organization of the protests and the parallel running anti-rassist international
meeting, on Saturday 19th of September at Economical University of Athens (ASSOE).Campaign 0% Racism –
100% Solidarity
