On October 22 the president of Free Trade Union "August 80" Bogusław Ziętek was arrested by the police and taken out of the office of the trade union`s National Commission in Katowice. A detention order was issued by the prosecutors from Wroclaw-Psie Pole. The detention was connected with protest of FagorMastercook factory employees in Wrocław, which occurred one and a half years ago. The campaign was organized by "August 80".
The police deteined Ziętek although the prosecutor release proceedings in this case twice, including the last time 26 June 2009. The trade union leader was released after 3 hours. As is apparent from the available information, the person conducting the interview were not focused on the case. After asking a few questions, including those with personal details and function of union membership, they completed operations.
Ziętek was deteined in the eve of a big demonstration of employees from Hipolit Cegielski in Poznań. This is another part of the campaign of intimidation of trade unionists from "August 80" currently engaged in the fight against wage cuts in the mining industry, preparing to strike at Tesco's network, and participating in all the protests in defense of liquidated jobs.
