Dear all, 

I think recent "wave" of strikes and school and university student
mobilisations in Italy (Germany, Spain , Greece too) plus upcoming rail and
other strikes in  and France should be high on the agenda in Istanbul  Not
having seen it on this list I have roughly translated the call by Cobas, Cub
and  Sdl Intercategoriale for the general strike of December 12.

In Britain the socialist youth movement REVOLUTION is organising a
delegation of school and university students to  go to Rome to bring
solidarity. I guess  and hope many others will do the same. The slogan "We
will not pay for your crisis" should be the axis of the work of the ESF in
the coming months

Dec. 12 GENERAL STRIKE called by COBAS, and Cub Sdl Intercategoriale
 
We will not pay for your crisis
 
After the great success of the general strike and the enormous number of
demonstrators (500 thousand according to almost all the news media) on the
streets on October 17, Cobas, Cub and SDL Intercategoriale, the three
organizations of rank and file and alternative unionism who signed the
Permanent Consultation Pact consider it essential to achieve a second day of
general strike which expresses the wider protests of workers both private
and public, against the Budget and against the whole economic and social
policy of the Berlusconi government.
 
Cobas, Cub and SDL Intercategoriale also respond positively to the unanimous
request coming from the people of the state schools (students, teachers,
Ata, researchers, parents and citizens) for a general strike that can keep
up the impetus of mighty movement in defense of the state schools and
universities which have been in constant mobilization now for weeks.
 
So Cobas, Cub SDL call jointly for a one day general strike on the December
12 by all sectors against the Budge, the cuts and the privatization of
schools and universities, for cancellation of Law 133 and Law 169 (the
former Gelmini decree), demanding the use of public money for major wage and
pension increases for education, health and social services and not to save
fraudulent banks and speculators, against precarious jobs and for the
abolition Treu and the law 30, for safety in workplaces, in defense of the
right to strike and for the recovery of rights taken away from all the trade
unions. 
 
On the day of Dec. 12, the three organizations will demonstrate at a
regional and provincial, seeking the maximum unity with the mobilizations of
students and people from the state schools that will be on the streets
across the whole of Italy.

12 dicembre SCIOPERO GENERALE indetto da COBAS, CUB e SDL
 
Non pagheremo noi la vostra crisi
Dopo il grande successo dello sciopero generale e l'enorme numero di
manifestanti (500 mila secondo quasi tutti i mezzi d'informazione) in piazza
il 17 ottobre scorso, Cobas, Cub e SdL intercategoriale, le tre
organizzazioni del sindacalismo di base e alternativo che hanno stipulato il
Patto di Consultazione permanente, ritengono indispensabile che si giunga ad
una seconda giornata di sciopero generale che esprima lo più ampia protesta
dei lavoratori dipendenti pubblici e privati contro la Finanziaria e
l'intera politica economica e sociale del governo Berlusconi.

Cobas, Cub e Sdl intercategoriale intendono anche rispondere positivamente
alla corale richiesta proveniente dall'intero popolo della scuola pubblica
(studenti, docenti, Ata, ricercatori, genitori e cittadini)
per uno sciopero
generale che sappia raccogliere la spinta del possente
movimento in difesa
della scuola e dell'Università pubbliche che oramai
da settimane è
incessantemente mobilitato.
Perciò Cobas, Cub e SdL convocano congiuntamente
per il 12 dicembre lo sciopero generale per l'intera giornata di tutte le
categorie contro la Finanziaria, i tagli e la privatizzazione di scuola e
Università, per la cancellazione della legge 133 e della legge 169
(ex-decreto Gelmini), per usare il denaro pubblico per forti aumenti
salariali e pensionistici, per scuola, sanità e servizi sociali e non per
salvare banche fraudolente e
speculatori, contro la precarietà e per
l'abolizione delle leggi Treu e
30, per la sicurezza nei posti di lavoro,
per la difesa del diritto di
sciopero e il recupero dei diritti sindacali
sequestrati dai sindacati
concertativi.
Nella giornata del 12 dicembre le tre organizzazioni manifesteranno a
livello regionale e provinciale, cercando la massima unità con le
mobilitazioni degli studenti e del popolo della scuola pubblica che sarà in
piazza in tutta Italia.
