I. At the WSF International Council meeting in Abuja, Nigeria.

In his report from the recently held WSF IC meeting in Abuja, Teivo
Teivainen reflects on the changes in the WSF IC meetings in the course of
the twenty sessions held since June 2001 and writes furthermore on what
is envisioned and thought out for the coming years of the WSF process.

preparatory process of the strategy debate, which was a main element of the
IC meeting held between 30 March and 3 April 2008.

II. ESF Mobilisation Tour to Tallinn and Riga

Delegates representing differing groups of Finnish civil society traveled to
Tallinn, Estonia, and Riga, Latvia to explain the concept of the Social
Forum and the idea of open space in an effort to build interest in the
upcoming European Social Forum. Laura Tuominen provides an overview of
events and illustrates the diverse landscape of social movements interested
in the social movement process.

2. Midwest Social Forum Holds Organizing Teach-in
Marc Becker
Activists throughout the Midwest gathered in rural Wisconsin for, Organizing
Communities Across Boundaries: An Organizing Teach-in , an event sponsored
by the Midwest Social Forum. The weekend sought to build the relationships
and skills needed to bridge divides between segments of the Social Justice
Movement. Marc Becker gives an account on the weekend¢s activities.

3. Enlazando Alternativas en Lima
Raphael Hoetmer
Lima is set to host the Summit of the Peoples: Enlazando Alternativas. The
Summit is organized by a bi-regional network of Latin American and European
civil society organizations. Raphael Hoetmer provides an update on NIGD
Peru's participation in the event.

III. Labour and the Challenges of Globalization
Edited by Andreas Bieler, Ingemar Lindberg, and Devan Pillay
Published by Pluto Press, this book examines the challenges facing the
worlds labour force, and the possible responses by trade unions.
Illustrating the conditions through 11 case studies the book includes
contributions from Peter Waterman and Samir Amin.
