Dear all,
as i said during the Program Group in Malmoe, you don't have to consider every organisation, network or tradeunion from Western Europe like a big and rich "capitalistic stucture". For us (without any tradunionist and democratic right - cause the labour laws imposed by the big and official italian tradeunions - and freedom of organisation and speech and circulation and inscription in most of the working places in Italy) every meeting and assembly, at the international level, is already expensive so, without adding more expenses. For exemple, to be in Kiev will mean for us to spend more or less 1000 euros. Things going so, please, we would avoid to be consider guilty, stingy and insensitive to the Eastern reasons, if we give in Kiev, as usual, ONLY 50 euros for the common Fond. Organisations and tradeunions much, much richer than us will be able to put on the table 200 euros (or more) without any problem, i believe. See you soon,

Subject: [fse-esf] Urgent and important: a proposal from Kiev EPA Organizersand the NOC

Sorry, this time with a subject.

  URGENT AND IMPORTANT:

  A PROPOSAL

  FROM KIEV EPA ORGANIZERS

  AND NORDIC ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Please, answer as soon as possible

  Dear friends,

the common decision to held the next EPA in Kiev give us the possibility to work in a very effective way for ESF process enlargement, which is one of the most important goal for Malmo ESF and for all of us.

Many Eastern European and Russian speaking activists will have for the first time the opportunity to join ESF. There is a lot of interest and enthusiasm.

We are sure the usual Solidarity Fund will not be enough to guarantee their presence. And you know that most of activists from Eastern Europe can’t afford the expenses by their own. Though travel costs for them this time will be less, the actual numbers of EPA participants who will need support will increase. In Berlin during recent EPA existing funds were enough just to cover 30% of the travel costs.

During last EPAs, we all have confirmed our commitment to support the enlargement process. This is the reason why we are proposing you a special way to build up the Solidarity Fund for Kiev assembly, hoping you will agree on it.

We propose all the organizations that can to contribute with at least 200 euro, instead of 50 that we paid at the last EPA in Berlin, hoping that the biggest and richest ones can give more. This amount is what you will pay in Kiev from your organization, that will help people from central and Eastern Europe to actually travel and participate at the EPA meeting.

Of course nobody will be obliged to do it, and who cannot afford it will be welcome as usual.

It will be a way for European organization to contribute to the Malmo process, following our common commitment.

We have to build the budget of Solidarity Fund in advance, because we have to be sure we can invite Eastern and Russian speaking people to come.

This is the reason we ask you to reply as soon as possible, indicating the sum you will bring with you in Kiev for the Solidarity Fund.

We really hope you’ll understand us and you’ll help our efforts.

  In solidarity,

Kiev EPA Organizing Committee and Nordic Organizing Committee
