Dear friends,
in Germany 60.000 people marched in 80 places during easter days. 10.000 more than last year.
Main demand was the withdrawl of german troops from Afghanistan. Many protests were directed against militars bases and infrastructure. The german peace movement started a petition against the prolonging oft the mandate for the Afghanistan-war. The German Bundestag will vote in autumn on the prolonging of the mandate.
The planning for an international conference on afghanistan is going on. Here you can find information: http://www.afghanistan-kongress.de/
We are very keen to know if you will send delegates to the conference. We also would like to know, if it is suitable for you if we organise an international meeting of representatives of movements and organisations on Friday, 6th of June, or if you prefer it on Saturday night, 7th of June. We prefer Friday, but if it is not possible to you we try to find a solution to meet on Saturday. Aim of this meeting is to exchange experiences and coordinate our efforts to fight war and occupation in Afghanistan.
Please answer me and/or Reiner Braun (Hr.Braun at gmx.net)
All the best,
Christine Buchholz
