A GREAT MOBILIZATION IN ITALY 

AGAINST THE WAR AND ITS INSTRUMENTS  

 
On the 26^th January , in the framework of the Global day of Action

promoted by the Wsf, the structures of the 
"Patto permanente contro la Guerra" (a national Alliance against the war
with organisations and networks such COBAS, Action, Global meeting network, 
Pcl, RdB, Rete dei Comunisti, Rete Disarmiamoli, Rete Semprecontrolaguerra,

Sinistra Critica; and several local networks) organised a Day of action
against war and its instruments; against Prodi government war
policy; for the withdrawal of our troops from all the war fronts;
for the closure of all military bases and against the construction
of new ones (starting from Vicenza); for a drastic reduction of
military spending and for the increase of social spending ; for the
reconvertion of weapons industry and abandoned barracks; for the
repeal of the agreement for F35 and against the endorsement of USA
missile schield; against Italy-Israel military agreement and against
embargo toward Palestine. All in all, we had about 10.000 PEOPLE IN THE STREETS OF 12  ITALIAN CITIES.
 
ROMA:  Sit- in in front of the Ministry of Defence; sit- in in
 front of the USA Embassy



FIRENZE:   demonstration against war and in support for the 13 no
 war militants accused of aggravated assault while they were
protesting against war in Jugoslavia during a demonstration in the
1999. (they have been sentenced to 7 years of prison)



GHEDI ( BRESCIA): In front of the military base a demonstration
in favour of the objectives of the "Patto permanente contro la guerra"
and against the presence of atomic bombs.

SCORDIA (CATANIA): demonstration and public Assembly against the
widening of the military base in Sigonella and for its dismantling.
 
GENOVA: : sit -in for the objectives of the "Patto permanente contro la Guerra" 



BOLOGNA:  Sit- in front of the company "Consorzio Cooperative
Costruzioni", one of the companies that has a contract for the
building of the new military base "Dal Molin" in Vicenza.
 
MILANO  : Sit-in , information and video projection against war,
promoted by the local Network against war
 
TORINO: sit- in in front of Alenia, the most important italian weapon's factory,
against war industry promoted by the local network against F 35 bombers

VICENZA:  sit-in in front of the quarters of USA and Nato soldiers

against the contruction of the new military base Dal Molin
 
BARI, TARANTO, LECCE : sit-in against the war, for the withdrawal

of all Italian troops from all the war fronts
