500 mineurs strike in underground in mine Budryk - its the biggest strike in
undeground in history of Poland. The wifes of miners support the miners in
front of the mine. 10 january we organise the big manifestation of support
for miners also in front of the mine. Director of entreprise told than the
strikers are the terroristes and pay for agences PR to do the campaigne in
the media against the strike. Horrible, but miners are strong. Thanks for
letters of support for the miners from differents country.

Subject: [fse-esf] National Mobilisation in Hungary against the law on
Health Insurance





   Civic resistence against the law of privatisation of the Hungarian Health
Insurance System has been launched  on the Saturday National Meeting in
Budapest organized by the Hungarian Social Forum-Social Roundtable with the
participation of more than fifty civic organisations, trade unions, among
them two TU Confederations, religious communities, leftwing and democratic
political parties. The meeting was held in the TU of the Healthy Workers,
after two bannings in other sites, presumibly due to the political pressure
of the government: firstly the Hospital of Railway Workers has withdrawn the
authorisation to hold the meeting in its conference room, after also Kossuth
Klub has banned our conference. Both have argued telling that the meeting
was a  â01Epoliticalâ01D one. The National Conference has unanimously
decided to support a referendum for the nullification of the law, in case
the law enter in force. (The president of the Republic has denied to sign
the law in question.) In order to organize the referendum, and decide the
next steps to be done, a Social Coordinating Committee has been formed with
all the representatives wanting to cooperate for the withdrawal of the law.
The body is embracing the most various social forces, communists, leftwing
independents, socialists, democrats, greens, and also rightwing opposition
with the law. The Coordinating Committee has to put in execution the
decisions of the National Conference, that is to mobilize the Hungarian
Society for achieving the withdrawal of the law. (Front page coverage, Á la
