Dear Matyas
Personally I dont have a problem with individual interventions on this list. News and opinions in the ESF process websites and E-lists in the eyes of the ESF Webteam are much too few and far between .
Since the Stockholm EPA supported the proposal from the ESF Webteam to open an Activists News(and opinion) Site linked to the main fse-esf.org site - we have, as you know, opened the 'European Social Forum Activist News Agency' space on the openesf.net site.
I suggest you send your news and opinions to this list and to the new Blog in the
ESF Activists News space.
In Solidarity. Merlin

Accto my humble opinion this list is not for putting individual interventions made at the Berlin EPA. If I am mistaken I wish to see also all other partcipants' intervention. In case of an affirmative answer, I will put my interventions, too.
Regards,
Matyas Benyik

Intervention of Endre Simó, the organizer of the Hungarian Social Forum-Social Roundtable (HSF-SR) at the European Preparatory Assembly of ESF
(Berlin, 24 February, 2008)
Let me share with you some considerations about our 7 year old European Social Forum nearing to Malmõ.
I think, our common problem is the weake impact, the low efficiency of our movement to change the existing social relationships, and satisfy by this the common goal of the Charter of Principles of the World Social Forum: the overcoming of the neoliberal capitalism. We could exercise very much more influence, if we did take note of the fact, that albeit we are an important part of the reality, we are only a little part of the same. And for changing the social reality we have to meet and express common human and social interests with others, not belonging to ESF, not co-operating with us, may be, because simply they did never heard of our existence. Why should they know us, if we do not give any sign of life for months and months, years and years, if we do not have any common program and strategy. We have to open windows and doors in order to let enter more oxygen into the Forum.
Starting from our experience of social fight against the privatisation of the public health in Hungary, I invite all of You to give the necessary attention to the joining of social forces of different ideological and political inspiration, ready to fight with us to such concrete aims, like as the defense of the pulic health, the defense of the social insurance system, for the rights to education and school, rights to jobs, housing and social security.
This kind of concrete social alliances, (social, and not ideological or political) has in Januray and February permitted in Hungary the convassing in three weeks of 400 thousand of signatures, instead of the necessary 200 thousand, allowing a referendum against the liberalisation of the Social Insurance System, and the preservation of the existing Solidarity Social Insurance System.
We do not want to give any recipt to anybody, but yes, we want to share with you our experiences now and in Malmõ. At our opinion, the experience we have acquired, is showing what a reach source of force is the joining of different sectors for common social goals! At the same time, this kind of large social alliances is the major obstacle against far right tendencies, bacause uniting and mobilizing large sectors for the social progress.
Malmõ â013 at my opinion â013 should be the place of an extraordinary important social message: the message that we are open and we want to build Social Alliances for Human and Social Rights, the defense and enlargement of the Democratic Rights of Freedom.
In this spirit the Hungarian Social Forum - Social Roundtable is seeking for partners and allied inside and outside of the ESF. We support all initiatives open to dialogue, to co-operation, and common actions for common goals. It was in this spirit we have launched in Athens with many others the European Working Group for Precarity, Exclusion and Poverty. Now we announce with plesure, that the Hungarian Catholic Bishop Conference Committee Iustitia et Pax has expressed his interest to our Working Groupâ019s initiative.
