[fse-esf] Decision about organisasing actions in March in Brussels

Dear All,
I've spoken to Fabrice about this since he sent this Email.
I am now in touch with quite a big Social Movement on Social Housing in Brussels - some 
of whom where in Malmoe - who have a lot of experience in organising all- European meetings - like the ESF EPAs, and have venues big enough to host an ESF EPA.

They have not been so actively involved in the activities of the Belgium Social Forum itself
up until now.The person I spoke to,who i have seen in very effective action in organisational,logistical matters over many years (one of the long-time coordinators) said that he would be pleased to discuss with his organisation - the possibility of Hosting the Counter Summit/EPA in March in Brussels -and discuss the possibility with other Active
Social Movements in Brussels whom they are in contact with.

Two other people in Brussels I am in contact with are also discussing the possibilities with
their  Active Organisations and ones they are in contact with.
So WATCH THIS SPACE! Alternative Proposals for Hosting the Counter Summit/EPA
in Brussels in March 2009 could well MANIFEST THEMSELVES!

Dear all,

 

We had a meeting today at the Belgium Social Forum. Considering the
recent discussions that we had internally or with Europeans organisations, we took the decision to withdraw our proposal to
organise some actions and an EPA in March in Brussels.

 

We will be present at the meeting in Paris on the 10th and the 11th
of January to discuss the next mobilisation in London. We also think that we don’t need a supplementary
meeting on the 9th.

 

Concerning the EPA, we believe that it’s too soon in March to
organise such a meeting. We would be ready to consider the organisation of an
EAP in Brussels in May. 

That will give us more time to organise it and prepare an effective
agenda (Solidarity funds, program process, enlargement…)

Of course if another country wants to propose an EAP sooner we won’t
oppose it.
