Dear
friends,

I think it is very important to
understand, that the conflict in Osetia is the conflict, which takes place in
Europe, that Eastern Europe again ( after Yugoslavia) was used by the United
states to destabilize the situation in our region. And there is also our common
fault and our own responsibility to confront this practice of hunting European
nations and to launch the fire in our region to help dollar to rise.

We, people of good will of common Europe
should ask ourselves, what we did to prevent the catastrophe? We also should ask,
what is the real cause of  catastrophe
and what should we do to prevent it?

       When modern neoliberal fascist explain
you, that the cause of these catastrophe in Europe is the existence of Russian
people in the world and only physical extermination of Russian people, surrounding
them with military bases, throwing them out of international organizations,
claiming them as uncivilized monsters can give the “final solution” of all
European and world problems– don’t trust them.

Russian people are not angels, but who is
angel? Americans, French, Italians,… ? Who can say, we are better then you as
human beings and that is why we deserve to live and you deserve to die? This is
the way abyss.

But why precisely  Eastern Europe is constantly used by US political
clique to launch European fire? (And I assure you, that it would be used again
and again, if we do not take measures here.) East European countries, which
came out of so called “socialist” regimes have very weak societies, which can
not control their governments. And it is not simply because of authoritarian character
of previous regimes, but also because this regime used state to provide social
issues and purely substituted society in social activity. These societies got
used to get support, care and protection from state and were not allowed to
develop it’s internal integrity and social sovereignty. They could be more or
less strong to fight against other states, but absolutely unprotected from
their own.  As long as socialist was ideology
was strong and popular, it compelled such state to take care of people to some
extent, at least within it’s frames.  But
the corruption of socialist and communist ideology in the eyes of people contributed
tremendously to changing communist bureaucracy ( constrained more or less with “socialist”
ideology) into neoliberal bureaucracy ( without any moral and social
constrains). That was the initial phase of transformation.  The change of nature of states in East European
countries happened rapidly as well as the economic privatization of common
wealth.  Together with privatization
there were declared all democratic  forms
( parliaments, multy party systems, representative democracy, social
movements). But the societies remained disintegrated and very paternalistic in
their way of life and political behavior. Because political culture of people
could not change as rapidly as the property systems and nature of bureaucracy. The result – modern East European countries
( with some not so important in this sense difference) have governments
formally democratically elected by societies, which can not control these governments
 in reality.

This situation creates  unprecedented opportunities for those forces
who would like to use the leaders of these countries for their own destructive purposes.  This situation creates ideal ground for
hunting people and nations of these states not only because these nations are
civilly disintegrated and cannot resist antinational politics of their
governments, but also because these nations are not wealthy, they don’t have
good economic position and very easily “swallow” nationalist and even fascists
slogans, that are usually used to  “warm”
 their self-identification spirit. They
move not in the direction of civil, but in the direction of nationalist and
even racist self-identification.  I want
to stress, that racist self-identification can not be justified with the size
of nation. Fascism is fascism and racism is racism no matter big or small is
nation, which proclaims it.  And now in
Osetia we see that racism of small nation ( Georgia) can become very dangerous,
when it becomes the instrument of cynical neoliberal Global clique. We see now,
that after defeat of attempt to exterminate Osetians it appeals to all Europe
to arrange the World war for extermination of Russian people.

What shall we do? I am Russian, but I
want to say, that I know, that this fascist ideology has nothing to do with our
Georgian brothers, who , I am sure feel the same as we. I also want to say it
about Ukranians, and other East Europeans. I know they don’t want American
radars on their territories, they don’t want to kill Russians and they don’t trust
that Russians would kill them. But we are disintegrated, we are separated.  I don’t even speak, that we are separated from
western people.  And my question, what
was done to break this tendency by all of us? Was it estimated as high priority
not in words, but in actions?  Is there a
strategy of developing of civil diplomacy to enhance civil trust in Eastern
Europe?

I think usual formal resolutions cannot
substitute consequent and persistent strategy and politics of European left
towards prevailing development and establishment of all European  civil peoples solidarity. I am not lower, I
am historian . So, I cannot suggest concrete forms and steps, how it could be. But
e have many specialists in different political and cultural areas within ESF. Lets
create such strategy of civil solidarity and integration in Eastern Europe to
prevent involvement of it’s peoples into bloody conflicts.

I want to support the considerations of
Enfre Simo from Hungarian Social Forum, who was the only one, who responded to
my appeal to discuss this issue, when we were really at the eve of terrible all
European confrontation. And I hope that this initiative would have support and
consideration.

In
solidarity,

Alla
Glinchikova

Dear Friends, Some reflexions about the conflict in South Ossetia: Western powers have to take note of the fact, that american backed Sakashvilliâ019s military step to oblige South Ossetia to the territorial integration into Georgia has failed.South Ossetia has the right to decide freely between self-determination or integration into an other state. There are not only western interests, there exist also russian interests.Soviet Union has collapsed, but Russia continue representing an important counterbalance vis a vis of the expansion of the NATO towards East and the Caucasus. Instead of the unilateralism of the US defense system represented by the NATO a new european collectif system of defense is needed with the inclusion of Russia and the former soviet republics, in order to grant collectively peace and security in Europe. The projected anti-ballistic missile system in Poland, Czekia and Hungary (radar), the inclusion into the NATO of the baltic
states, the project to do the same with Georgia cannot be considered as steps toward the strenghtening of the self-determination of the peoples, but - on the contrary - their use against other peoples.Human rights and democracy in Russia, in China and in other eastern countries cannot be assured by missiles and by denying their national interests, but only by peaceful co-operation and total respect of the sovreignty of those peoples.                                         Endre Simó, Hungarian Social Forum organizer11 August 2008
