[fse-esf] Actions against the Olympic Games

I let you know a proposal for an alternative campaign that I read on a
italian news paper :
 
A possible boycott action could be that any game winner ( or, even better,
all the medal winners , i.e, the first, second
and the third to each competition) wear a Tibetan flag with a sentence for
this country freedom when on the podium to 
receive the medals
 
The protest visibility would be larger

Actions against the Olympic Games

Several actions of protest haven take place during the Olympic torch relay
in Greece. Yesterday March 30, pro-Tibet activists tried to hold banners
with the slogan 'Stop the genocide in Tibet'. Greek police violated their
constitutional rights and arrested 19 people for a few hours.

On March 28 and on March 29, members of the Network for Political and Social
Rights http://diktio.org/taytothta.htm
held protests against the Olympic Games. The Network's activists tried to
disrupt  the torch relay.  On their banners it was written: 'No to the Games
of multinationals, doping and blood'. The police attacked them as well and
one activist was also arrested for a few hours

In a press release the Network (Diktio in Greek) not only condemned the
Chinese dictatorship but also the Olympic Games as a festival of
multinational capital, useless waste of money and doping. It also made an
appeal to organize actions wherever the torch relay is transfered. 

The Olympic flame didn't ever existed in ancient Greece. In reality it was
conceived by the Nazis in 1936 ('this fine idea of Dr Goebbels') closely
related to racist and antisemitic ideology.

The Athens Olympic Games of 2004 were a major ecological and financial
disaster for Greece.
