Dear all,

You may have already heard that Farooq Tariq, general secretary of
the Labor Party Pakistan (LPP) and a very active member of the Global
Justice Movement, of the international anti-war movement and of the
World Social Forum process, has been arrested again in Pakistan. He
is, together with other political detainees, presently under detention.

The political crisis in Pakistan is very acute and the military
regime may take very grave repressive mesures. The situation is quite
unstable and there are rumors of possible martial law imposition, on
the eve of a presidential election.

It is very important to show again our solidarity without delay.

An international defense campaign had already been launched last May-
June, after a previous arrest of Farooq Tariq and others.

451 signatures were then collected. See the original call and the
list of signatures at:

http://www.europe-solidaire.org/spip.php?article6363

WE ARE NOW RELAUNCHING THIS CAMPAIGN, after the new arrest of Farooq
and others.

The call will be updated, but remain basically the same.

ADDITIONAL SIGNATURES can be sent to:

We are also publishing on ESSF website reactions and messages
released after the latest arrest. See:

This webpage is very incomplete.

If you wish your stand (or stands you know of) to be added to this
web page, please send them to me too.

In solidarity,

Pierre Rousset
