Hi,
in response to Mariangela's question, please find a new version of the
summary of the librarians' network meeting:
--- summary text begins ---
Librarians' network
The purpose of this network is to extend the forum process to the public
libraries and to combat funding cuts and privatization of the public
library service. The directive on Public Lending Right (PLR) is being
introduced by the EU to transform the library into a commercial
institution. For the ESF 2008, the network is planning a conference on the
significance of the PLR, called Non pago di leggere ('I won't pay for
reading', or 'I won't stop reading') and a grassroots librarians' workshop
called The Political Library.

Another thing:
Earlier today, I sent a draft report from the librarians' meeting to the
mailing list of the network. Where / to whom shall I send it for uploading
to http://fse-esf.org ? Or can I upload it there ?
And by the way, when you are in contact with librarians (for instance in
your local library!), please tell them about the lib-esf network and
suggest that they join the mailing list. The address of the mailing list
is lib-esf2008 at sympa.kaapeli.fi and it is subscribed to via
http://sympa.kaapeli.fi/
Cheers,
- Mikael
