[fse-esf] Wave of social protests in Hungary

    After the common demonstration of Trade Unions and civic organisation on 10th November 2007, a new wave of social protests is shaking Hungary. Strikes and demonstrations are showing the increasing discontentment of the population with the cuts, poorness, jobless, the demolishment of the welfare and the privatisation of the Social Assurance System of health. On Wednesday 21 November general strikes of different branches of the national economy are planned, with the participation among others of the Railway Workers, the Teachers, buses, tramways, intercity and air-transports. The â01ESolidarity Action Dayâ01D is organized by two Trade Union Confederations and many other Trade Unions of branch with the support and the active mobilisation of the Hungarian Social Forum-Social Roundtable and a lot of other civic organisations, as well as political forces in opposition with the policy of privatisation of the ruling coalition of Socialists and Free Democrats, led by Ferenc Gyrcsany.
