On 9th of May 2007 Polish Coal Company has started
procedure of
disciplinary layoffs toward to leaders of Free Trade
Union August 80
from mine KWK Szczygłowice: Kazimierz
Lubowiecki, Zbigniew Kowalski i
Marcin Płaczek.
The reason of such illegal decision was an involvement
in strike action
of all crew (25-27 April). Strike was spontaneous
protest of miners
supported by trade unions.

Protest of miners was an effect of managements
policy. Especially
negative role was played by Director Adama Przywary,
who has manipulated
the information during negotiation and during whole
process has shown
negative attitude towards trade unions. Strike was
supported by all
employed.
On 27th of April Crew and management of mine has
signed agreement
concerning wages and regeneration profits, what was
demanded by workers
since two years time.
It isnt the first attack of Polish Coal Company
management on left-wing
trade unions. In 2006 Krzysztof ŁabÄ
dź (leader of
trade union in mine
KWK Budryk) has lost his job due to layoff, but
after the action of
trade unions and decision of Labour Court he came back
to work.
