Dear Friends,
Last week the majority of the committee on the internal market and consumer protection of the European Parliament put at risk the exclusion of health services from the Services Directive. This exclusion was won by mobilisation of trade unions and social movements against the original Bolkestein draft. The roll back must be prevented from happening. Health care must not be a matter for the internal market or the Services Directive. Health services are merit services.
The report is scheduled for voting at the European Parliaments Plenary Session in Strasbourg on 24 May 2007. We launch a call for urgent mobilization.
We should exert political pressure on the members of the European Parliament for voting against the report on the impact and consequences of the exclusion of Health Services from the Directive on Services in the Internal Market(2006/2275(INI))
