STATEMENT

The Central and Eastern European Alliance for the Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CEEASS) welcomes the recently adopted resolution of the United Nations Security Council on Western Sahara, by which the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination has been solemnly established as a cornerstone of any just and lasting solution to the conflict. The Security Council unequivocally reaffirmed the justness of the Saharawi people's cause. This victory is due to the steadfastness of the Saharawi people and the overwhelming support of the international community as well as to the human rights and solidarity movements.

It became evident that the only mutually acceptable political solution should provide for the self-determination of the Saharawi people under the aegis of the UN and in direct negotiations without preconditions between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front. This great achivement is a proof that the question of Western Sahara is a decolonisation problem governed by the terms of the UN General Assembly resolution 1514.

Despite all efforts of disinformation campaigns, the Kingdom of Marocco has failed again to promote its pseudo-plan of autonomy and to legitimize its colonial occupation of Western Sahara.
