[fse-esf] Antiwar demo in Athens march 17th

Thousands marched in the streets of Athens after a rally-concert on
March 17th.
Jimmy Massey, Iraq Veterans Against the War representative addressed
workers, students from occupied universities, activists from Stop the
War coalitions from all around the Country, arab and Pakistani
communities.
His presence for two weeks with speeches were organizing events for the
demo and also marked the reemergence of a strong antiwar sentiment in
Greece: in universities in Salonica, Kreta, Ioannina, in Athens in
Law,Philosophy,Polytechnic and Political Sciences as well as in
workplaces hospitals, Public TV employees, Local council of Nikaia and
in a lot of neigbourhoods.
"How can we say we will build Iraq, that we destroyed, and on the same
time we can build New Orleans." "In the USA to get the right for
education and healthcare you have first to kill in Iraq or Afghanistan".
"Depleted uranium is ours generation agent orange of Vietnam".
Elettra Angelinas from Cobas Italia was bringin again the spirit of
Genoa and of the Italian antiwar movement that aroused strong in the
streets of Vincenza. " We do not have friendly governments of the
movements in Italy" (Pronti centre-left government supported by
Rifondazzione Comunista.
We thank Iraq Veterans Against the War and Cobas Italia for their
participation in Athens demonstration.
Speakers included: A group of artists that started the rally in
Syntagma, Anna Vagena, Constantinos Constantopoulos, Alexandros
Bourdoumis." Impeach Bush, he is a war criminal".
Yiannis Sifakakis from Stop the War Coalition Greece, Dimitris
Tsoukalas, tradeunionist, Jjavied Aslam,president of Pakistani Community
of Greece, a woman activist from Greek-Arab Union. Amnesty
Internatrional Greece called for the demo also.
The march ended outside American embassy of Athens with Jimmy Massey
sayin a few words and holding an IVAW placard for the media.
We congratulate all our friends around the World for the succesfull
round of international antiwar demos. Starting from January 17th
Washington demo, passing through London and Vincenza we can now add
Madrid with hundreds of thousands, S.Korea, Pakistan,Turkey,Cyprus,
Danemark,Poland,Belgium, South Africa and of course the excellent
welcome for George Bush in Latin America.
Next stop is Cairo Conference against US hegemony and Zionist aggression
