Dear Dave. Dear all,

I fully agree with this proposal. The European as well as the World
Social Forum represent the citizens of the world and struggle for world
peace. The siege on Palestine MUST stop now while there is still a
glimpse of hope and we need to join our voice to that of thousands of
people who feel the same but are cut off from expressing themselves

Summer is not the best of times for mobilisations but middle of July
could work

Dear comrades, 

The people of Gaza face an emergency. The situation is urgent. I believe
the ESF and the social movements need to respond in a united and
solidaristic way.

In short I want to propose a pan-European demonstration against the EU's
blockade of Gaza.

The moves by the USA, the European Union and Israel to end the  embargo
on tax revenues, aid, etc to the Palestinian Authority might be welcome
if it represented the recognition of the democratic choice of the
Palestinian people in January 2006. In fact it represents the exact
opposite - they are rewarding Abbas for dismissing the elected
government and are intensifying the blockade and siege  of Gaza.

It is the duty of the ESF and the antiwar movement to come to the aid of
the people of Gaza, by maximising pressure on the EU governments to end
the blockade immediately, not only by allowing into Gaza supplies of
food, fuel, and medicine but also of money to pay wages owed to the
public sector workers of Gaza.

There is no time to lose and we cannot afford to stand on ceremony. We
cannot wait until the European Preparatory Assembly in Sweden in
September.
We propose that all organisations and make proposals for a common date
for action. Plainly the EPA in September will also have to put the basis
for an ongoing campaign high on its agenda.
