Chers Simo Endre et cher Matyas Benyik,
(english below)

Subject: [fse-esf] Law and Strikes in Hungary
Nationwide strikes have accompanied the approval of the Health Insurance privatisation law in Hungary on Monday, 17 December 2007. In the midst of general strikes of Railway Workers, Pedagogues, Intercity Bus Drivers, Doctors, Health Employees, and nationwide route-blockades of peasants, the representatives of the ruling coalition of Socialists and Free Democrats have opened the way in Hungary to the market liberalisation of the solidarity based Health Insurance System. On Saturday a common demonstration of civic organisations and Trade Unions in Budapest has called the hungarian public opinion not to cease the social resistance but to follow on in the new conditions, with new tools (referendums) in order to abrogate the anti-social law. After the approval of the partial privatisation law by the Hungarian National Assembly, the Social Roundtable of the Hungarian Social Forum has called the social organisations, trade unions and the political forces in opposition with the law, to enlarge their democratic unity of action and seek for new methods and tools for impeding the execution of the law and achieve its withdrawal as soon as possible. At the opinion of the HSF-SR the approval of the privatisation law does not mean that it will also enter in force and its destiny depends in large mesure from the civic resistance against it. HSF-SR has launched an appeal for renewed social allinaces for the defense of the Social Right to Health.+++
