Apart the hostile spirit of Mr. Benyik message with our firm struggle against the partial privatisation of the Health Insurance System in Hungary, the message sent from the same is also incorrect from the point of vieuw of the facts. I have taken the floor in the name of the Social Roundtable of the Hungarian Social Forum I am representing, and not in the name of the movement as a whole. This mistake probably could have been committed because the absence of Mr. Benyik and his foundation bringing the name of the HSF from the Budapest demonstration held with the Trade Unions and a lot of civic organisations Saturday morning. Thanks for thje solidarity messages received from abroad.
friendly, Endre Simó

> Dear ESFers, Please find in attachment and also pasted herebelow an Open Letter concerning the political situation in Hungary. Regards, Matyas Benyik OPEN LETTER OF THE FOUNDATION FOR THE HUNGARIAN SOCIAL FORUM MOVEMENTS

> TO THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE EUROPEAN SOCIAL FORUM

>
> Few thousand people protested in Budapest on 15th December 2007 against the reform of the health insurance in name. The main organizers of the demonstration were two smaller trade union confederations open towards the political right-wing.
>
>
>
> The other four Hungarian trade union confederations have not taken part in the above demonstration in spite of the fact, that all of them are opposing firmly and unanimously to let the private capital in the health insurance. They are on the opinion that the strongest right wing party (which has been collaborating obliquely with different neo-nazi parties for ten years and what is more it formed an electoral alliance with them at the last election) is openly aspiring to power. This is why it is squarely behind the actions of the right wing trade unions.
>
>
>
> The political character of the demonstation of 15th December is proved by the fact that the rightwingers were waving the symbol of the Hungarian fascists, i.e. the red-white striped flags and the organizers of the demonstration had no objection at all.
>
>
>
> Condsidering the very complicated internal situation, the Foundation for the Hungarian Social Forum Movements and the 25 allied Civil Society Organizations have not participated in the above mentioned demonstration. But Endre Simó did make a speech in the name of the so called Hungarian Social Forum as he usually does at many other rightist events. To heartâ019s content of the right-wingers he was speaking about overthrowing the present government.

> The Board of Trustees of our Foundation considers the participation in events of right-wing or extreme right character with party political intentions as contrary to the principles of the WSF Charter and separates itself from Endre Simóâ019s activity.
