 Dear ESF Friends,
Following up on the discussions we had in Lisboa EPA around the Future of the ESF and EPAs.In particular the arguments put forward around the Strategy that the Assembly of the Social Movements and the European Networks of the ESF should Act
In a Way/ and Develop Policies that are seen as being European Civil Society Alternatives to the Activities and Policies of the EU 'Government'(Council of Ministers).
(This also in respect of the Non-EU Eastern European Governments, Norway, The Russian Federation, Turkey etc,.)

This could be done by attempting to hold EPAs and ESFs at the same Venues and as Counter Summits to the EU Summits.
This could also be done by much Closer Collaboration/Coordination between our Networks, Assembly of Social Movements and sympathetic Members of the European Parliament, parlicularly in the relevant Subject Committees. This Collaboration being Two Way!.
Our Mobilisation at the Strasbourg Parliament around the Bolkenstein Directive was a relatively successful example of this.

We could invite Relevant Europarl Committee Members to speak at our Network Meetings, Assembly Meetings etc,.
During the course of an interview I had with Sahra Wagenknecht MEP (Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Delegation for Relations with the Andean Community)
She said she would be pleased to speak on what she and her Committee, Delegation is doing and raise questions, present policies on what we want - IF SHE WAS INVITED TO DO SO. - Lets invite her!

Here are other possible Committee Members from some of the more sympathetic groups in the European parliament we could invite to speak to us.
