Let me give you some information on the ESF website situation.

We, as members of the ‘Memory and Tools Project of the ESF 2003’,  had the opportunity to present the final state of our work during the day of networks and the last plenary of the EPA in Lisboa  (see the ‘memoria viva’ part in the ESF website at : http://www.fse-esf.org/spip.php?rubrique66). We explained that we re-looked the ESF website to offer access to the different tools we designed in its pages –which was not planned in our project but we made it voluntary. As some people were interested, we made a call to participation to keep it alive, saying that we cannot do it alone, but until now, we didn’t receive any individual nor collective proposal. We explained also that, through this two years project which involved activists from different countries in Europe, we tried to initiate a collective concern for building our common living memory and documentation, linking and stocking all available information from one ESF event to another one. The assembly agreed and applauded. But until now, there is no real decision – as far as I know – to make this site a collective property, making the ESF process visible in the long run,  that should allow to organize things in such a way that every new organization committee of every further ESF event take the responsibility of it. 

May I remind you that this site was originally created for the ESF 2003, and from the beginning hosted and administrated by volunteers. We are conscient, and you can easily imagine, that its existence is thus fragile.

So, at the moment, it depends on the good will of volunteers like us and, to be clear, we are two, just back from summer holidays, without any mandate. This is the reality ! 

But I’m glad that some of you start to express their concern... What I propose now is to plan a meeting in Stockholm to discuss this matter with all those who are interested, included, of course, people from the organisation committe of the next EPA. Thanks to an additional budget, we are able to come and ‘give the keys of the house’, share our experience and participate in setting up a division of the tasks and responsibilities, plan further developments, ameliorations (including translations) etc.
