Appeal of the Hungarian Social Forum cwg for the solution of the Crisis

   The Coordinating Working Group of the Hungarian Social Forum (HSF 
cwg) expresses his concern about the drawing out of the political crisis, 
the spliting in two of the hungarian society and the rising of situations 
of confrontations threatening with violence. Similarly to the 
overwhelming majority of the Society, our Forum is not interested in the 
Crisis, but in the solution of the problems of the people: by giving them 
jobs, assuring them dign subsistence and Peace. After all the 
vicissitudes Hungary has passed in its History, our country does not 
need ditching and nation dividing policies, but the contrary: a policy 
strenghtening the national cohesion and unity.  Such a policy only could 
be implemented by a State and a Government seeking for solutions 
together with the Society, and not without it. Millions and millions of our 
compatriots are struggling with everyday problems of subsistence: they 
cannot pay their bills of electricity, gas, water, provide their children 
with adequate clothes, feed them, assure them to go to school, assure 
to themselves a cultured and healthy life with sport. The hunt after 
profit is all sweeping away from his road: Human Rights, rights to Life, 
to Subsistence, Peace and the collective values. People is becoming 
defenceless, alienated towards government, democracy, ignoble 
instincts are germinating while hope is dismaying. It is necessary to act 
before it would be late, before irrational instincts had the best. The 
way out from the crisis must be found with the People and the Society. 
People needs to feel himself doing matter, not to be considered as a 
subject of the State machine and of the government in power. It is 
uneccaptable for us the state reigning in the National Assembly: the 
endless spitfulness for power, exacerbated political clashes between 
parties, the unworthy attitude vis a vis of the elector citizens. We want 
a Real Democracy, a democracy of the Society. We call everybody to 
begin the building up of a system in which representative democracy is 
becoming amalgamated with participatory democracy, in order to give a 
direct voice to the Society in the process of preparing and taking 
decions. It is time to act together including the Society itself. The 
Hungarian Social Forum cwg, as Forum of different social and civic 
organisations, Trade Unions and communities lounch an appeal to the 
Dialogue, to a Social Round Table in order to overcome the crisis and 
defend the democratic rights of freedom against the extremist 
athoritarian tendencies. It is necessary to begin immediately resolving 
the most urgent social problems: the moderation of the charges 
imposed on the majority of the society. The new State Balance and the 
Convergency Program with EU has to be established on the base of a 
Social Balance, not only a financial one, otherwise the crisis will go 
increasing. For restoring the social calm and moderating the tensions, it 
is necessary to assure jobs, subsistence,  home,  hope, justice, public 
cleanness. We invite around the table all those, who are ready to block 
the desintegration of the society, to overcome their strict party 
interests, surpass themselves for the common goal of Peace and 
Progress of the country. We propose as topics of the round table:
      -To defend and guarantee the Democratic Rights of Freedom,
      -To reform the social system in order to counterbalance the cuts,
      -To moderate the burdens of the Population by a more equitable 
distribution of the 
        charges,
      -To stop the privatisation of the Healthcare and Social Assurance 
systems,
      -To stop immediately the evictions and to take care of already 
evicted people before
       the nearing winter,
      -To assure the necessary food to people in need.

We expect from the political elite to act at the interest of the country, in 
conformity with the will of the Society. We call the forces in power and 
in opposition, the civic sphere and trade unions, communities of 
Working and Creating People to take the opportunity of our social 
initiative and join it. Let us seek for and find common solutions!
