Open the eyes and ears of the international community
No words can attribute the horror of the recent events in the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, Wednesday 8 November, 18 Palestinians were assassinated in their
sleep or woke up inside the nightmare of the Israeli atrocities. Ten of them
were children and all the dead people were members of the same family. The
injured people are more than 60.
For a week now Beit Hanoun, a town in the borders between Gaza and Israel,
was strafed and pays a heavy blood toll to the Israeli occupation and the
western apathy. About 50 people died the previous four days before
Wednesdays offensive, 250 are the injured and more than 1.500 the arrested
people.
The entire people in the Gaza Strip after the well publicized Israeli
withdrawal the previous summer is grazing on the blood that did not stop
to be shed by the occupation army. Every other resource has dried out. The
border blockade has turned Gaza to a broad Guandanamo for an entire nation.
The West Bunk is daily invaded and buries its own martyrs while the arrested
people are gradually turning to missing persons. The economic siege imposed
by Israel with the support of the USA and the EU after the democratically
election of Hamas in the government has steeped the country in poverty.
The only thing that holds the Palestinian people from the edge of despair is
the deep solidarity that splits every piece of bread to smaller ones so that
no mouth stays empty and no man stays alone against the occupation power.
Within this inconceivable situation the international community, when not
silent, stammers its anxiety without taking any real action letting the
corpses mounting and the Palestinian people starving, hoping that it will be
driven, as almost happened, in fratricide and overthrow its government.
It is a duty for the entire democratic world to cry out its solidarity to
the struggling and deeply languishing Palestinian people and to demand the
immediate intervention of the international community for the termination of
the Israeli atrociousness in the Middle East.
We also want a New Middle East. With an independent and sovereign
Palestinian State in the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital without
any Wall slicing its continuity and with the right of return for the
Palestinian refugees vested.
