				The debate and vote on the Mann report on EU-US Economic Relations is on the agenda for the European Parliament's Brussels plenary session this week. This report includes a proposal to establish "a barrier-free transatlantic market by 2015". 

				 

				For us, an EU-US barrier-free market must not be imposed by business interests without proper consultation with citizens. This proposal constitutes a threat to the development of the EU, its legislation, and to the advancement of a more social and environmentally-friendly Europe.

				Une zone de libre échange Etats-Unis - UE ?

				Le Parlement Européen doit débattre et voter en session plénière cette semaine à Bruxelles un rapport d'initiative du Parlement européen présenté par la député Erika Mann et qui propose l'établissement d'un "marché transatlantique sans entraves pour 2015". 

				Les intervenants expliqueront pourquoi l'établissement d'une telle zone de libre-échange Etats-Unis - Union Européenne ne peut se faire sans que les citoyens européens soient consultés. Ils expliqueront en quoi un tel projet, inspiré par les intérêts des firmes multinationales, constitue une menace pour la construction de l'Union Européenne et pour le développement d'une Europe sociale et environnementale.
