Friday May 26th- Silent march in Antwerp


On Friday May 26th a silent march will take place in the city of Antwerp as an expression of support to the families of Mohamed Bouazza and the victims of the brutal and racist attack of last Thursday, Luna Drowart, Oulemata Niangadou en Songül Koç.  After a consulting with the families and the communities two slogans for this march were chosen: 

'The sorrow is of A' and 'Stop racism, diversity is reality' 

This march is also a serene protest against all forms of violence in society and a plea for a tolerant city. This initiative is supported by the city council, organisations of the different communities, civil society, the shopkeepers' association and many others.

Practical information
The march leaves at 14:00 hours from 'the Brouwersvliet' and goes past the 'Namenstraat' and the 'Jan Van Gentstraat' to the 'Bolivarplaats' where the march ends with speeches by the concerned families.

You can reach the Brouwersvliet by public transport from central station any pre- underground train direction 'linker oever' (left bank) get off at the stop 'Meir' take tram number 4 or 7 from 'the Sint-Katelijnevest' in the direction of Sint-Pietersvliet and get off at the stop Sint-Pietersvliet from there you can walk along the embankment to 'Brouwersvliet' (for a map of the city http://stadsplan.antwerpen.be/ )

IMPORTANT
The families want the march to proceed in a dignified and serene fashion. They ask you to not bring banners, flags and/or signs with slogans to the march and refrain from handing out flyers. Participants are asked to wear white clothes as a sign of solidarity.
