[fse-esf] Article on the Attack of Black Blocj in Athens

   It is necessary to defend ourselves phisically from the extremists, at 
the same time we must defend the scale of values we are proposing 
regarding a new society in which human and social rights could be 
implemented in Democracy and Freedom – this is the conclusion of an 
article I have written and which was published on Saturday in the 
weekend supplement of the hungarian daily newspaper Nepszabadsag 
by the title „The attack of Black Block” (in Athens).
    During the debate on the situation we have made in Athens 
suddenly after the big demonstration of 100 thousand people, we have 
all agreed, that the peaceful demonstrators marching on Alexandros 
Avenue have been phisically aggressed. We have put the question: are 
the Black Blocks composed by anarchists, fascists or anarcho-fascists?  
Some of us have indignantly rejected the idea to define Black Block as 
an extreme rightwing group, somebody has spoken about „youngsters 
fall into sin”, by taking indirectly their defense. „We could devide our 
movement if we take position against them” – was told by a participant 
at the debate. Some people considered that the methods of Black Block 
were wrong, but their goals were the ours. Personally I thought, if it 
was true, why did they attacked us, why did they launch new and new 
attacks on the people demonstrating against the war - I have asked in 
my article.
    We are not alone with the opinion - continues the article -  that Black 
Block is not the fellow fighter of the european social movement. We 
reject the theory of the  „comrades fall into sin”, as Red Brigades have 
been defined when they have kidnapped Aldo Moro in 1979. We have 
been shocked by listening in Athens the opinion of a representative 
from Italy, telling us, that the problem of our movement was to 
be „sqeamish” because of distinguishing between bad and good 
methods, bad and good tools, while the most important was to achieve 
our social goals (independently of the methods). We think, at the 
contrary, that the macchiavellistic spirit present in our movement is 
impeading to understand that the choosen method of the social fight 
cannot be separated from the social goal we are pursuing. The method 
reflects and predicts which kind of social goal would be. By speaking 
of „so called terrorism”, by denying the undeniable and justifying the 
unjustifiable pose the problem of the future: how do we conceive the 
New Society, what kind of Another World do we want and do we 
consider possible. Why would the new world be different from the 
existing one, if unhuman methods, unecceptable violence, barbarism 
would continue? It will only be better if we fight for another solution: 
for braking the infernal circle of War and Terrorism, by refusing to justify 
each with the other. We must do this starting from another etichal 
basis, in the name of humanist values guiding us. I have agreed with 
an another italian friend calling our attention to the fact, that Black 
Blocks have used our ranks and our flags to launch their attacks on us - 
I have written in my article, among others.
