Regarding thematic spaces, I just want to remind you the decision
presented during the plenary and written down in the our report (network 
on Migrations) :

4." In order to increase the visibility of the event, the group recalled the
position they hold on the localization of thematic spaces and wishes to
maintain the unity of activity methodology. It is crucial to have one unity
of time and space per thematic, because it will facilitate public display as
well as working in a transversal way on other themes by having a clear
vision of the sites and of  where and when activities will take place.
Knowing who does what and where they do it makes everything much easier."

Following this decision, some persons involved in the network of
Migrations (working group) decided to support the proposal for self
organized spaces presented by vamos. (see below)

Concrete arrangements and their validation will be discuss in Frankfurt
during our thematic meeting in order to present a collective proposal. I
propose that our discussions start from Vamos’ proposals. It reminds that
the main aims are to promote the convergence of the “have not “networks ;
the crossing between various thematic areas, but also to prepare
collective and shared actions and to put into practice our principles of
functioning.This space would geographically be bounded inside the forum
and would be - partly - a place of life.

We invite you to discuss about this proposal during the meeting on Migrations
and also during a more informal meeting that we will organise on Friday evening 
after the thematic meetings.

Bonjour,

Concernant les espaces thématiques, je rappelle notre décision présentée lors
de la dernière AEP : décision inscrite dans le compte-rendu du groupe Migrations :
4.   " Pour favoriser la visibilité le groupe rappelle sa demande concernant
la localisation des espaces thématiques et souhaite que la méthodologie
des ensembles d’activités soit maintenue. Il est très important d’avoir
une unité de temps et de lieux par thématique car elle facilite
l’affichage mais aussi la transversalité avec les autres thématiques en
ayant une vision claire des lieux de déroulement des actions et des
horaires des autres activités….Savoir qui fait quoi et où facilite
vraiment les choses."

Dans la lignée de cette décision, un certain nombre de personnes
impliquées dans le réseau Migrations ont choisi d’appuyer la proposition
d'espaces auto gerés (lieu de vie) présentée par Vamos. (voir fin de
message)
L’organisation concrète de l’espace et sa validation seront discutées lors
de la prochaine rencontre du groupe de travail Migrations à Frankfurt à
partir de la proposition diffusée sur les listes et dont l'axe principal
est de favoriser la convergence des réseaux de "base" et la transversalité
entre différentes aires thématiques, de préparer des actions communes et
de mettre en pratique nos principes de fonctionnement. Cet espace serait
géographiquement délimité à l'intérieur du forum et serait - pour partie -
un lieu de vie.

Pour mémoire, je remet en copie le texte de propositions tel qu’il a
circulé sur les listes en français et anglais.

Nous vous invitons à en débattre lors de la réunion du groupe Migrations mais
aussi lors d'une réunion plus générale que nous tiendrons le vendredi soir
à Frankfurt après les réunions thématiques.

The social Forum of Athens has placed, at the heart of its preparation, the
self-organization of the thematic areas by the networks which involve
themselves in it. It is a step forward to make easier and to guarantee the
participation of a majority in the preparation process.

We consider that the process of Social forums is at the heart of the social
transformations which will make emerge a fairer world and more respectful of
each and everyone one of us.

Social forums are:
-places of debates and sharing out of experiences,
-moments for making easier the networking of activist forces who gather
there
-opportunities to establish analysis and proposals of campaigns

Nonetheless, it seems essential to us to take the opportunity of these
forums to put our ideas into practice, to experiment ways of functioning as
well as alternative political ones. In short, Forums should be the
opportunity to act otherwise, for another world.
In a first step, the process of preparation of the forum being already
advanced, this principles and ideas could rise through a clearly defined
geographical space, within the Forum, allowing anyone and everyone willing
to do so to take part in it.

We hence apply to all networks, organizations and thematic areas, to support
and build together such a space, in the heart of the Forum. Several
organizations, networks or thematic areas have already declared themselves
interested in this project in order to promote and experiment alternative
ways of functioning.
This space could be based upon some simple principles of functioning :
-a horizontal space: that implies assuming a self-managed collective life,
based upon the participation of everyone to technical tasks and political
debates, as much for the initiative itself than for its accomplishment.
-a space of struggles against all discriminations: this implies the refusal
of any hierarchical, sexist, patriarchal, racist, aggressive behavior,
-an eco-managed space: this implies practices based upon the respect of
environment and in harmony with nature and the questioning of our habits
concerning consumption and consumerism, energy, water, transportation, etc.
-a space of convergence, of preparation and organization of actions aiming
at making our ideas concrete.
-an inclusive space: meaning that it is open to any and everyone recognizing
him or herself in those principles and that political diversity is welcome
A happy and festive space.

We call upon all individuals, every organization which would recognize
themselves in these principles, to take part in the accomplishment of this
space, in order to assert by our practices, our debates and our struggles
that we can bring down the established order and that another world is
possible !

Le Forum Social d'Athènes a placé au coeur de sa préparation
l'auto-organisation des aires thématiques par les réseaux qui s'y
impliquent. C'est un pas en avant décisif pour faciliter et garantir la
participation du plus grand nombre dans le processus de préparation.

Nous considérons que le processus des Forums Sociaux est au coeur des
transformations sociales qui feront émerger un monde plus juste et plus
respectueux de touTEs et de chacunE.

Les Forums Sociaux sont à la fois :

- des lieux de débats et de partages d'expériences,

- des moments pour faciliter la mise en réseau des forces militantes qui s'y
retrouvent

- des opportunités pour établir des analyses et des propositions de
campagnes.

Néanmoins, il parait essentiel que ces forums soient également l'occasion de
mettre nos idées en pratiques, d'expérimenter des modes de fonctionnement et
des modes politiques alternatifs. Bref, que les forums sociaux soient
l'occasion d'agir autrement, pour un autre monde.

Dans un premier temps, le processus de préparation du forum étant déjà
avancé, ces principes et idées pourraient voir le jour à travers un espace
géographique défini, au sein du forum, permettant à toutes celles et ceux
qui le veulent d'y participer.

Pour cela, nous nous adressons à tous les réseaux, organisations et aires
thématiques intéressés, pour soutenir et construire ensemble un espace de ce
type, au coeur du forum. Plusieurs organisations, réseaux ou aires
thématiques se sont déjà dites intéressées par ce projet afin de promouvoir
et expérimenter des modes de fonctionnement alternatifs.

Cet espace pourrait être basé sur quelques principes simples de
fonctionnement :

* un espace Horizontal: cela implique la prise en charge auto-gestionnaire
de la vie collective, basée sur la participation de chacunE aux tâches
techniques et aux débats politiques, tant pour l'initiative que pour la
réalisation.

* un espace de lutte contre les discriminations: cela implique le refus de
tout comportement hiérarchique, sexiste, patriarcal, raciste, agressif.

* un espace éco-géré: cela implique des pratiques basées sur le respect de
l'environnement et de l'harmonie avec la nature, la mise en question de nos
pratiques habituelles concernant la consommation, l'énergie, l'eau, le
transport...

* un espace de convergence, de préparation et d'organisations d'actions
visant a rendre nos idées concrètes.

* un espace inclusif: cela implique qu'il est ouvert a touTEs celles et ceux
qui se reconnaissent dans ces principes, que la diversité politique y est la
bienvenue.

* un espace joyeux et festif.



Nous appelons donc touTEs les individuEs, associations, organisations qui se
reconnaîtraient dans ces principes à prendre part a la réalisation de cet
espace, afin d'affirmer par nos pratiques, nos débats et nos luttes que l'on
peut renverser l'ordre établi et qu'un autre monde est possible !
