With deep indignation, I would like to inform you on the following
event:

On Thurday 8 June 2006, Professor Yiannis Milios, member of the Board of
Nicos Poulantzas Institute, of the Greek Social Forum and of the
Secretariat of the Coalition of Radical Left (SYRIZA), was arrested by
the FBI at JFK Airport of New York. He was interrogated for
approximately 5 hours and finally was not allowed entry in the US,
despite the fact that he was an invited speaker in an international
academic conference organized by the State University of New York.
During the interrogation process, FBI agents were interested to know his
political views and affiliations as well as the strategy that the
political space he belongs in has for achieving its aims.
Yiannis Milios is a Marxist economist with international reputation,
editor of the influential Greek radical left political review "Theseis"
and a regular signatory of the Memoranda of European Economists for an
Alternative Economic Policy in Europe.
