Facing the brutality of the invasion and the lies of the propaganda

International solidarity to the peoples of Lebanon and Palestine

Israel continues the extermination of Lebanese and Palestinians. Having the
assured alliance of the USA and the consensus of the UN and the EU (Greece
included) the mighty Israeli military machine attempts to pulverize the
Arabic resistance while imposing a new status quo in the Middle East. It is
rather needless for someone to try to present the incredible infliction that
Palestinians and Lebanese suffer. The television scenes consists undeniable
proofs of the Israeli crimes. Maybe it would be more useful to try to impose
a barrier to the fusillade of the propaganda’s falsity through which an
ethical and political justification of this dirty war is attempted.

They say that Hezbollah’s ambush and the arrest of Israeli soldiers was an
act of war and therefore Israel is in defense. But they are forgetting to
say that Israel the entire previous period had been practicing an orgy of
war actions: The dead people in Palestine after the end of the second
Intifada and the cease-fire of Hamas have exceeded 700, the prisoners are
close to 10.000 (half of the Palestinian Authority’s cabinet included), the
infrastructure in Gaza and in the West Bank have become ruins, and of course
the occupation is sustained as usual. Furthermore, the continued detention
of Lebanese prisoners of war “does not” consist acts of war (some of them
imprisoned since 1978) and the occupation of parts of Lebanon (the so called
blue zone);

They say that Hezbollah and Hamas want to destroy the state of Israel and
therefore the Israeli army must reply to the threat. They are forgetting
though to say that it is ridiculous for someone to claim that a state that
owns up to two hundred nuclear heads is threatened by two organizations.
Besides the fact that Nasrallah told in Al Jazeera that Hezbollah’s aim is
the liberation of the lands that Israel occupied in 1967 and that Hamas
accepts in effect the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state beside
Israel, the Arabs are accused that they would like to do what Israel is
doing in a daily bases. What Israel is daily doing is to destroy the
Palestinian Authority and along that the prospect of a sovereign Palestinian
state. Along that it destroys now the state of Lebanon in the moment that it
was rectified. Even Orwell would stand aghast.

They say that the prospect of peace was subverted by the extreme Islamists.
But they are forgetting that the key to open the door of peace in the Middle
Peace was, is and will be in the hands of Israel. And that key is no other
than the creation of a truly independent and sovereign Palestinian state in
the entire Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the withdrawal of Israel
from all the Arabic territories occupied in 1967 (Golan, blue zone). As long
as Israeli governments continue the occupation attempting through the Wall
of Shame to annex the most fertile lands of the West Bank and East
Jerusalem, no peace in the Middle East will ever come. And the reason for
this is not the “age-long hatred between Arabs and Jews” but Israel’s
rapacity.

In order to focus in our continent, they say that the European Union and the
Greek government are keeping “equal distances” towards the conflict. They
are forgetting though to say that it is unethical to keep equal distances
towards the immolator and the victim. They are also forgetting that these
distances are not so equal: The prime minister in his declaration imposed
provisions to
Lebanon to stop the conflict, the commercial transactions has
been multiplied and, foremost Greece has signed “defense” (i.e. military)
cooperation agreement with Israel. The Greek foreign policy more and more
coincides with the USA, more and more becomes supportive to Israel.

In 1982 referring to the battle in Beirut Yasser Arafat had said the
unforgettable “we wrote History with our blood”. Today, after 24 years,
Lebanese and Palestinians fighting for their land are rewriting History in
the same way. But now they do not only fight against the panoply of the
invader but also the propaganda industry that assassinates the truth.
