[fse-esf] Democracy demands political parties' participation in the ESF, and openness about it

Another world is possible only if we deal with reality. One part of the reality we face is that the European Social Forums and, arguably, the World Social Forum would simply not happen without the involvement of political parties. That being so, the most democratic way we can deal with political parties (I'm in a political group myself, by the way) is to be honest and open about their existence. I do think the Porto Alegro charter has to be ignored or, preferably, changed in this regard. The democracy of the ESF is being stifled, in part by the subterfuge and pretence around the participation of political parties, and this rottenness at our heart shouldn't be allowed to continue. The democracy of this altermondialist movement is more important than anything else, including complying with every dot and comma of the Porto Alegro charter (itself a political document, after all). Well, that's what I think!

Dear Friends,
I ask about the legitimacy of such e-mails on our list. If the Charta of Porto Alegre is the basis of the social forum process we can't accept the permanent offence against it. Parties are not allowed to particiapate in the social forum process and we all should stop tolerating the violation of this princip.
In solidarity
