[fse-esf] Demonstration in Hungary against the New Balance policy

Dear Friends,

Although yesterday a group of people including  "Hungarian Social Forum CWG" 
and others met and agreed not to expropriate the name of "Hungarian Social 
Forum", our friend Endre Simo keeps on doing so. We protest against this 
practice! Hoping the majority of the people in these mailing list respects 
the Porto Alegre Charter (especially point 6., 8. and 9.)

Subject: [fse-esf] Demonstration in Hungary against the New Balance policy




    Organised by the six Trade Union Confederations of Hungary a
demonstration against the „New Balance” neoliberal policy of the
socialist-free democrate ruling coalition will take place in Budapest on
Saturday June 8, with the participation of civic organisations and
leftwing political forces. The aim of the demonstration is to impede the
social restrictions demanded by the EU Central Bank in the name of the
stabilisation of the state budget by the way of increasing consumption
prices and new tax burdens on Workers, unemployees, little and
medium size enterpreneurs at the benefit of the big corporations.
Negotiations of the Trade Unions with the Government have resulted
unseccesful, having the government withdrawn also agreements
already taken with trade union representatives. The most serious
consequences of the New Balance policy imposed by EU Central Bank in
view of the introduction in Hungary of euro, are the immediate growing
of the prices of foods, gaz, electricity, drugs, fuel, the deterioration of
the living conditions of the people, an increased mass unemployment
and precariouseness. Tens of thousands of public emloyees, among
them ten thousand teachers are to be removed, while those continuing
employed, must work two hours more by week – government is
programming.  An 7-8 pc inflation is waited by the end of 2006, at the
same time hungarian currency (HUF) is loosing force vis a vis of euro
and US dollar. Our social organisations co-operating in the Hungarian
Social Forum cwg propose a social way to resolve the state balance
problem: a new income proportional tax system favouring the working
people, the fair distribution of the goods, the preservation of social
achievements, the implementation of the rights of families, women,
children and the increased employment. Our slogan is Jobs, Peace,
Secure Existence! No to the New Balance policy!
