below you find a rough and ready translation of the information Attac
Germany has just sent to its local groups and member organisations.

on the 14th of February the plenary of the European Parliament will
decide on the Bolkestein directive aiming for the liberalisation of
the service sector. We want to block this decision with the united
forces of social movements and trade unions. The Bolkestein directive
has to go. Instead we demand a social and ecological Europe with a
harmonisation of social standards towards the top.

After some days of many conversations with our partners in Europe and
and in Germany the following is now being planned:

on the 11th of February a European demonstration in Strasbourg

on the 11th of February an action in front of the ministry
of economic affairs in Berlin
(also in other capitals which are further away from Strasbourg)

on the 14th of February protests around the European Parliament in Strasbourg.


>We urge you to mobilise all forces, in particular to make the
>European demonstration in Strasbourg a success.

The Bolkestein working group and our national office have prepared
material for the mobilisation, which will be available after new year.

On our website special pages have been created.
There will also be a list of buses soon.

In a large fund raising effort we will have to collect 20.000 € to
make the mobilisation a success.

We want to inform the members of the European Parliament with E-mails
and visits of our rejection of the directive.

Let us organise, after the rejection of the EU constitution and the
withdrawal of the software patent directive, a third defeat for the
neoliberals in Europe.

In particular the common actions in Strasbourg with our friends in
France and from other European countries are a crucial part of the
Europe that we want!

am 14. Februar will das Plenum des Europäischen Parlaments über die
Bolkestein-Richtlinie zur Liberalisierung der Dienstleistungen
beschließen. Das wollen wir mit vereinten Kräften von sozialen
Bewegungen und Gewerkschaften verhindern! Die Bolkesteinrichtlinie
muss weg. Stattdessen fordern wir ein soziales und ökologisches Europa
mit der Angleichung sozialer Standards nach oben.

Nach einigen Tagen vieler Gespräche mit unseren BündnispartnerInnen in
Europa und in Deutschland ist nun geplant:

am 11. Februar in Strasbourg eine Europäische Demonstration

am 11. Februar in Berlin eine Aktion vor dem Wirtschaftsministerium
(ebenso in anderen Hauptstädten, die weiter von Strasbourg entfernt
sind)

am 14. Februar in Strasbourg Proteste rund um das Parlament

Die Bolkestein-AG und das Bundesbüro haben Mobilisierungsmaterial
vorbereitet, das nach Neujahr zur Verfügung steht.

Auf der Webseite wurden Sonderseiten eingerichtet.
Dort gibt es bald auch eine Busbörse.

In einer großen Spendenaktion müssen wir 20.000 € sammeln, um die
Mobilsierung zu einem Erfolg zu machen.

Die Abeordneten des Europaparlaments wollen wir mit E-mails und
Besuchen schon vorab von unserer Ablehnung in Kenntnis setzen.


Lasst uns nach der Ablehnung der EU-Verfassung und dem Stopp der
Softwarepatentrichtlinie den Neoliberalen in Europa eine dritte
Niederlage beibringen.

Gerade die gemeinsamen Aktionen in Strasbourg mit unseren FreundInnen
aus Frankreich und anderen europäischen Ländern sind ein Teil des
Europas, das wir wollen!
